So it's been a while since I've posted anything here, and from the looks of it, it might be another while still. Photos that I've been taking lately haven't been up to my "deviantart standard", or have been just snapshot type things. So those things end up on my personal site [link]

I did however just get a new Hoya R72 infrared filter, and a B+W 0.3 ND filter which I've started playing with. If I get anything interesting, I'll be sure to post it.

I've also picked up some supplies for a series of still lifes that I've been pondering, but I haven't gotten around to doing yet. Part of the problem is lack of proper lighting. I've now got a pair of studio lights, but one just completely overpowers the other. I've got a third light, but I need to get a new bulb for it. Maybe in a week or two I'll get some time to pull that stuff out again and play with it.

With the advent of the new Journaling features, I figured I should give them a try.

I'm currently playing around with some still-life shots. Experimenting with the lighting is the biggest thing right now. Hopefully I'll have something to show for it in a few days.

I went and visited my parents over the weekend, which gave me an excellent opportunity to take some pictures of something other than the urban jungle that is Chicago.
We ended up going to a small nature preserve in the area after Sunday lunch, so I got to take a lot of photos. I've posted a couple of the best ones here, and more can be found in my photo gallery on my homepage (boxedchaos.com).

I just got a nice new Canon EF 75-300mm USM/IS lens for my camera, and now that the weather is finally getting a little nicer I'm hoping to put it to some use. Perhaps even this weekend.
